I love to read other people’s writing, but hearing someone speak is inspiring in a different way.

I don’t need to tell you that societal pressure can be a downer for everyone sometimes. But women, collectively, understand the shame, critique and derogation directed toward them on varying scales, on a daily basis.

And that shit is tiring.

Why it’s OK not to do Anything with your Degree

Academically, I did pretty well at school. Actually, schoolwork seemed to be the only thing I showed any proficiency in. Therefore, the logical sequence of events was to do well at school – get into sixth form – get into university – get a good job. Right?

There was never any question about me going to university, there were no other options in my mind.

Imagine my disappointment, then, when about 6 months into my degree I decided I didn’t like it. I found it really boring, I missed home, I missed my family, I missed seeing my friends, I just didn’t like my subject anymore. Continue reading

So, I know it’s kind of Autumn now, but I also know that my social media is full of people trotting off on sunny holidays still. So, I wanted to tell you about my favourite product this summer – Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF 50+ from La Roche-Posay

We only booked our recent holiday to Tenerife a week beforehand, and I didn’t have time or inclination to buy new stuff. BUT I did want to find a good sunscreen for my face.

I can’t stand anything heavy on my face normally, never mind in the heat, so I really wanted something lighter than normal body sunscreen. Problems I’ve had previously with facial sunscreens are that they’re too heavy, too greasy, don’t sit well under makeup, or cause my skin to overreact, break out, and just be a general oily mess.
