24 Hours in Chester, England

You may not know, because I’ve been incredibly cool about the fact that it’s been MY BIRTHDAY recently. Everyone knows that, with each passing year in your 20s, you have some kind of crazy cocktail of emotions about getting older. I am so weird about my birthday. Like, on the one hand I really hate to be centre of attention. But, on the other hand, I like to celebrate it and feel special and be a little self-indulgent. Just the one day a year, I swear.

B and I are fans of the UK city break, so he decided to surprise me with a night in Chester for my birthday. Chester is one of my favourite cities to visit, and I’m about to explain why. Fair warning, most of this is about stuff I ate that day. What’s new, really? Continue reading

4 Days in Milan and Lake Como

Flights & Accommodation

An EasyJet flight to Milan Malpensa airport, then a taxi from there to our hotel which cost around €25 each and took around 45 minutes. We wouldn’t normally like to pay that much, but it was really late when we landed and we had no idea!

We stayed at the IH Hotel Milano Gioia, which was basic, clean, and really cheap. It was near a supermarket where we bought random snacks for the room, as well as Birra Moretti and Peroni for like €0.50 a litre. The downside was that it was an hour walk away from the central sightseeing stuff.

We ended up using the Metro which cost about €4.50 return and took us straight to the centre every day in about 10 minutes.
