Happy New Year!

Instead of the long list of resolutions I usually set for myself, I’m making it a little simpler this year.

Resolutions aren’t just a New Year thing for me; I set new goals and get new ideas constantly.

But, since it is the start of a new year, I’ve decided to set myself little monthly challenges (in addition to the 700 things I also wanna do each month, of course).

Each month I’m picking something I want to focus on. It could be a habit I want to solidify, or a skill I want to learn, or something fun or interesting I just fancy doing.

It’s a total myth that a habit takes 28 days to form, so that’s not why I’m doing it month-by-month. The reason is to make habit change less overwhelming for me. I don’t know about you, but I tend to end up with just all the things on my list of goals for the year and it just looks too much (and probably is too much!). I’m actually quite interested to see how it goes.

That being said…..

My goal for January is: No phone before bed or first thing in the morning

Why? Mainly because it’s just not good for me but also because it’s terrible for my productivity. I’m in a position now where I can’t seem to keep my eyes open unless I’m staring at a screen. It doesn’t stop there, either. Before I know it, I’ve spent at least half an hour if not longer on my phone before I’ve done anything else in the morning. I want to see what, if anything, happens if I don’t have that distraction.

How do I plan to achieve my goal? Maybe a little ironic but I’m going to use my phone! I’m going to set an alarm for a cut-off point for my phone usage in the evenings. As for the morning, that’s going to be a bit trickier. I’m planning on keeping my phone somewhere else in my room so it isn’t exactly to hand when I first wake up. Any ideas?

Where have I been?

Taking a blogging break and finding inspiration again

Hi! Remember me? I’d forgive you if you forgot. I’ve kind of forgotten how to write, actually, it’s been so long. I last posted on the blog over a month ago and, in that time, I’ve had one guest post from a brand and I’ve written one guest post for another blogger. Actually, on that note, you should absolutely check out Lucy’s blog (who I wrote the guest post for) and catch up on her body stories series because it’s really wonderful.

Anyway.

So, yes, I’ve been fairly absent. Not just absence of blog posts but absence of tweeting and ‘gramming and pinning and everything, really. I can’t honestly explain what happened but I just woke up one day and fell out with it all.
