I was sorting through my blog categories the other day. When I got to the travel section, I realised I haven’t actually published that many posts about travelling in New Zealand.
When I wrote this post about quitting my job, a few people got in touch to say they wanted to see what I got up to.
Ahh the power of hindsight. I’m a few months into my working holiday in New Zealand and, even though I’ve been enjoying it, I won’t pretend it’s been easy.
Looking back, I could’ve been slightly more organised to make things easier for myself. And organisation is kind of my thing, sooo probably should’ve seen this coming.
Anyway, thought I’d share a few things for all you future NZ travellers, so you might have an easier transition than I did. Let me know what you think.
We’ve been in the North Island for most of our trip so far. Since both of us are pansies, we wanted to avoid the South Island for most of the winter because the weather is generally much harsher there.
According to New Zealanders we’ve chatted to, the North Island rarely gets snow, even in winter, but pretty much the entirety of the South Island is covered. Super pretty to see, not so practical for living in or getting about.
And, yeah, if I wanted snow, I can get that at home.
